Peat-free nursery trials
Can CompBucha improve plant performance within a nursery's existing peat-free growing system? The nursery keeps its normal medium and operating practices; the trial tests the added treatment.
Standard pilot
120 plants. 60 control. 60 treated.
A simple format that can be replicated across nurseries while retaining the nursery's own established growing medium.
A recommended working layout is six blocks, each containing 10 control and 10 treated plants. Final randomisation and blocking should be reviewed for the crop and site.
| Variable | Keep comparable |
|---|---|
| Growing medium | Same existing peat-free medium |
| Plant material | Same variety, age and source |
| Environment | Comparable light, watering and pot size |
| Treatment | Only planned BioCharge treatment differs |
Measurements
Commercially meaningful outcomes.
Growth & establishment
Root development, visible growth, establishment, flowering and plant quality.
Inputs & resilience
Water use observations, conventional feed use, losses, pest or disease observations and stress response.
Commercial performance
Time to saleable plant, shelf quality and whether the nursery manager would adopt the treatment based on the result.
